Up to 3,000 civil servants in the newly formed Department for
Environment, Food and Rural Affairs are going on strike next Monday over
differences in pay.
Sixty eight per cent of balloted members of the Public and
Commercial Services Union voted to take strike action earlier in August.
Civil servants from the former Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food are unhappy that they earn up to £4,500 less than their
colleagues from the department of Environment, Transport and the Regions, who
have been transferred to work with them.
