The Commission for Racial
Equality (CRE) is now consulting on its revised statutory employment code of
practice.
The revised code is intended to
update the current code, which has been in force for 20 years. It takes into
account amendments to the Race Relations Act 1976 and the impact of EU
legislation.
Changes to the code include
greater accessibility, more relevant tribunal case studies and detailed
guidance on topics such as positive action, ethnic monitoring and racial
equality policies.
Employers wishing to take part
in the consultation are invited to download a questionnaire from the CRE
website, to be returned by 6 August 2004.
