The
eight-day firefighters strike was still on the cards after talks were adjourned
last night (Wednesday).
Local
authority officials and leaders of the Fire Brigades’ Union spoke by telephone,
but failed to met in person or come to an agreement.
Talks
are to start again today.
FBU
general secretary Andy Gilchrist said the strike and pay claim remains in
place. "We have always been prepared to look at a serious and significant
offer on pay, but we have not had one," he said.
