More than two-thirds of UK
finance directors think the impending 1 per cent increase in employers National
Insurance contributions will not affect workforce expansion, according to a new
survey.
The
Reed Accountancy Big Question Survey, in association with Accountancy Age,
asked 267 finance chiefs: "Could the imminent one per cent increase in
employers National Insurance contributions compel you to put off expansion of
your workforce?".
In
all, 67 per cent of respondents said no.
The
main reason for such confidence was the small size of the proposed increase.
Richard
Post, managing director of
Reed Accountancy said: "It is surprising that two–thirds of those finance directors at
the heart of tough staffing decisions do not see the NI increase as an issue. Core staff are vital to business
development and this may explain why expansion of the workforce is being so
protected."
