The only way to get ahead in companies is by hard work, according to 2,000 personnel professionals across the globe.
A worldwide survey by employment services giant Manpower revealed employers are looking for employees who can get the job done.
British respondents said their most important consideration when assessing employees was the ability to complete assigned projects, with 51 per cent of UK companies listing this as the most important quality in an employee.
Other considerations like networking (21 per cent) and innovating or introducing new ideas (21 per cent) will not get you up the career ladder half as fast.

The rewards are immense, with 34 per cent of UK companies offering share schemes to those making it to executive level – more than any other country surveyed, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan and US.
