Vibration guide

Further guidance on whole body vibration has been published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Whole Body Vibration: the control of vibration at work regulations 2005, is available online. Go to www.hse.co.uk/books

RSI database

A database expanding and updating existing information on repetitive strain injury court judgments has been set up by the HSE. The work-related upper limb disorder database can be found online. Go to www.humanetechnology.co.uk/registered/intro.php

Silicosis consultation

A consultation is running until March on setting a new workplace exposure limit for respirable crystalline silica. About two million staff a year are exposed to crystalline silica, which is found in almost all types of rock, sands and clays. Long-term exposure can lead to the development of silicosis. Personnel Today

Personnel Today articles are written by an expert team of award-winning journalists who have been covering HR and L&D for many years. Some of our content is attributed to "Personnel Today" for a number of reasons, including: when numerous authors are associated with writing or editing a piece; or when the author is unknown (particularly for older articles).
