The
Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published new guidance for organisations
that employ staff who drive vehicles at work.
Driving
at Work: Managing Work-related Road Safety has been developed in conjunction with
the Department for Transport and is designed to highlight employers’ legal
responsibilities for staff who driving for a living.
The
group decided further legislation was not necessary, but that the current rules
should be more consistently and universally applied.
The
advice was recommended by the road safety task group, set up as part of the
Government’s road safety strategy of 2000.
