The
select committee investigating the collapse of the £200m Individual Learning
Account scheme has heard that a third of those with an account didn’t even
realise they had one.
According
to research by York Consulting, one in three of the 4,000 ILA holders
questioned had no idea that they were listed as part of the Government’s failed
training programme.
Of
650 account holders listed as being in receipt of money under the scheme, a
quarter said they had not received any grants or subsidies from the Government.
The
Education and Skills Select Committee is looking into widespread abuse,
miss-selling and fraud related to the ILA scheme which was closed down in
November.
