Workers
at Land Rover are set to strike over pay.
An
overtime ban and suspension of working time arrangements have been in place for
the last three weeks, and unions have now announced a one-day stoppage at Land
Rover on 26 January.
Transport
and General Workers’ Union (T&G) members voted for strike action and for
action short of a strike in December 2003.
Dave
Osborne, T&G national secretary, said: “The trade unions do not take this
decision lightly, but in view of the company’s reluctance to re-open
negotiations, it is felt that further action is necessary to bring them back to
the negotiating table.

“Between
now and 26 January, we hope that the company will reflect on the decision, and
meet the trade unions with a view to reaching a negotiated settlement.”
