North West firm Stephensons Solicitors has today launched a new product to help guide business owners through the employment law maze.
Called Workplace Assist, the new service has been developed by Stephensons’ employment team and will ensure members are fully up to date with legal requirements, helping business owners to avoid costly employment tribunals.
Last year, 189,348 cases were heard at employment tribunals, 45,000 more than the previous year, while the number of claims disposed of decreased from 107,412 to 86,237.
“The Workplace Assist package will ensure members remain fully compliant in order to avoid tribunals, which are a costly exercise whatever the size of business, not only in terms of money, but also in terms of time, loss of reputation and loss of morale to other employees,” said Philip Richardson, employment solicitor at Stephensons.
“The package is ideal peace of mind for small to medium-sized businesses with limited budgets. Employers should always keep a close eye on employment legislation but now more than ever, it is vital to make sure employment contracts and disciplinary procedures are up to date, particularly as many business owners could be facing issues such as redundancy for the first time.”
