Law firm Pinsent Masons launches iPod-based news service for HR professionals

Law firm Pinsent Masons has launched an iPod-based news service for HR professionals.

The subscription-based HR Network TV will provide HR personnel with twice-weekly news updates, and in-depth discussions on employment law and risk management once a month.

Subscribers will be able to download broadcasts directly onto a specially enabled iPod, without having to install specialist software onto their computer. The technology automatically orders and archives programmes so they are stored for viewing at any time.

Joe Glavina, employment lawyer and media consultant at Pinsent Masons, said: “The challenge for HR professionals is considerable: to keep pace with those developments, pre-empt problems and take action where necessary to protect the business. For them, knowing about changes in the law is not enough; they need to understand how they impact in the workplace.”

He told Personnel Today: “HR Network TV is designed specifically to cover risk management. With constantly evolving legislation and landmark court rulings to consider, HR professionals and business owners realise they have to keep up with the changes, but finding the time is a very real challenge.

“The mobility of the iPod means that subscribers will be able to keep up to date with developments wherever they are – even when travelling between meetings,” Glavina concluded.
