learndirect case study: Falkirk Council

by learndirect 8 Jan 2014
by learndirect 8 Jan 2014

learndirect has been working in partnership with Falkirk Council for a number of years to provide Apprenticeships and employability services to people in the region. Through their Employment and Training Unit the council is responsible for the management and delivery of a wide range of Employability Programmes, including Modern Apprenticeships to Falkirk area residents aged 16+ who are currently unemployed and seeking work.
A member of the Management Team at Falkirk Council Employment and Training Unit said: “We previously worked with JHP for a number of years and have continued since their merger with learndirect.
“We work with learndirect to deliver Apprenticeships across many industry areas within the modern Apprenticeship framework, as well as SCQF and SQA accredited qualifications and bespoke employability programmes. We also work with learndirect to deliver employability training to local residents, supporting both their skills development and progression to employment in a range of occupational areas within the third, private and public sector – including Falkirk Council.
“We enjoy a good working relationship overall with the learndirect team. We have two main contacts and we have good communication exchanges established over a number of years with both parties.
“One of the main benefits of learndirect is they have a large number of delivery areas which is helpful for our Unit, as we often need to create individual and bespoke delivery for our clients. We focus on nationally accredited and recognised qualifications as well, which learndirect can provide.
“We also need providers who can work flexibly and within tight timescales and this has continued to be our experience with learndirect through the time we’ve been working with them. Their training can be delivered on-line, or via tutors in a classroom, or in a work based setting so can be adapted to suit our needs, which is extremely helpful.”
