The Government has launched a website to
recognise businesses it considers to be socially responsible.
The site was part of a package of initiatives
launched by the minister for corporate and social responsibility Kim Howells this
week to encourage companies to be more caring.
Research by Business in the Community and
Research International reveals 81 per cent of consumers are more likely to buy
products with a good cause.
And 73 per cent of people said they were more
likely to be loyal to employers supporting the local community.
Companies highlighted on the website include Asda, BT, Unilever, United Utilities and
Whitbread.
