Police
in the Midlands are clamping down on illegal workers.
Yesterday,
34 officers apprehended 22 offenders near Hereford as part of a Government
drive to cut down on illegal working.
On
Tuesday, 35 officers swooped on an Evesham company, arresting 22 foreign
nationals found to be employed illegally.
Home
Office minister Beverley Hughes said: "The Government is cracking down on
illegal working and making good progress in removing increasing numbers of
immigration offenders from the UK.
"Illegal
working will not be tolerated – it encourages illegal immigration, exploits the
workers themselves and undermines legitimate business competition," he
said.
