Over
a million job hunters looked for employment on the Internet last month, a
massive 74 per cent increase from December.
The
most popular sites were Monster, Fish4jobs and Jobsonline, all with between
250,000 and 300,000 hits each in January.
The
figures by Internet monitoring company, NetValue, reveal that in total about
1.3 million people looked for a job over the Internet in January compared to
750,000 in December and that three quarters of visitors to job sites are male.
One
in five recruitment site visitors are professionals, ten per cent are middle
management and 26 per cent are students.
