Nationwide
Building Society has pledged to keep its call centres in the UK and promised
‘substantial investment’ in new and established call centres.
The
building society said it anticipated opening a new call centre in Sheffield and
was undertaking a major refurbishment
of its existing centres in Swindon and Northampton to make them better
environments to work in.
Nationwide
chief executive Philip Williamson said the building society had strong links to
the communities in which it operated and would not desert local communities in
favour of overseas call centres.
"Our
call centres are at the very heart of our service offering," he said.
"Call centres abroad may suit some of our competitors, but they are not
the right option for Nationwide."

the same level of data protection for consumers that exists in the UK.
