Acas offers advice on new consultation rules
Arbitration and conciliation body Acas has published good practice advice for employers on dealing with the new information and consultation rules. The guidance is designed to help employers and staff reach agreements under the new laws which will be effective from April next year. It covers a range of issues including dispute resolution, confidentiality and restructure.

Police to quiz recruits on sexual orientation

The police are to ask all new recruits to declare their sexual orientation anonymously as part of a diversity audit. However, there is no obligation to tick a box on the equal opportunities form and the results will remain confidential. The move has been backed by the Gay Police Association and lobby groups.
