Jo Gibson has been appointed director of HR at the London Marriott West
India Quay Hotel and Executive Apartments. In her new role, she will be in
charge of recruitment, training and development for the entire team of around
220 staff.
The Home Secretary David Blunkett has announced three appointments to the
Commission for Racial Equality (CRE). Mohammed Aziz, Julia Chain and Digby
Jones have all been appointed part-time commissioners as part of the CRE’s
modernisation programme.

Mills Group, the convenience store operator, has created a new HR department
as part of the company’s growth plans. Following the acquisition of 27 stores
at the end of last year, Mills Group now employs more than 1,200 people.
Heading up the new department will be Dawn Norton.
The HR team at international law firm DLA has been strengthened by the
arrival of senior associate Adam Hartley, who joins the Leeds office. Its HR
team currently boasts three partners and eight solicitors and is one of the
busiest in the region, advising private and public sector employers on all
aspects of employment and HR issues.
