Lorraine
Hallam has been appointed assistant director of HR for Leeds City Council,
starting in March. Her previous roles include personnel and training officer at
Derbyshire County Council and assistant HR director at Nottingham County
Council. In her new job, she will be responsible for a strategic approach to HR
across the council.

Camden
Council has appointed Mike Cooke as assistant chief executive for personnel. He
will manage the personnel service, which caters for around 8,000 employees.
Cooke joins with 15 years’ experience in the public sector and more recently,
eight years at Abbey National, where he filled a number of positions, including
customer sales HR director.
The
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has announced that Johnny C Taylor
will serve as chair designate for the 2004 SHRM board of directors. Taylor has
been a SHRM member for nine years and is a member of the Charlotte Area
Personnel Association in North Carolina, a SHRM chapter. He served as SHRM
board secretary in 2003.
