HR practice

On the move: Frank Douglas, Jackie Dubery, Rob Collins, Liz Cheaney, Alison Fry, Leesa Mather, Michelle Quest, and Julie Chow

Frank Douglas (pictured) has joined TfL (Transport for London) as group HR director. He will be responsible for HR strategy and services, and will report directly to Peter Hendy, London’s transport commissioner. Douglas was born in New York, and moved to the UK in 1997. He joins TfL from Scottish & Newcastle, where he was group HR director.


The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) has appointed Jackie Dubery HR and corporate services director. Dubery joins from Electrolux, where she was HR director, UK and Ireland, and international assignments director. She will join the AHDB senior executive team, and be responsible for all HR support for the organisation’s 500 staff.


Rob Collins has been appointed personnel director at Waitrose. Collins joined the John Lewis Partnership graduate programme in 1993, and has since held a number of retail positions, before becoming director of selling support in 2004, then director of e-commerce in 2007.


Liz Cheaney has joined law firm Coffin Mew as HR director. Cheaney previously worked as an HR consultant for manufacturing and service sector businesses. She joined Coffin Mew to help implement its new strategy.


Patni Computer Systems has appointed Alison Fry HR director, EMEA. Fry joins from Real HR Consulting, where she provided HR outsourcing consultancy to organisations in the financial and technology sectors. She will be responsible for the entire HR function within Patni’s EMEA business.


Leesa Mather has joined recruitment company Ochre House as group HR director. She will manage and lead all HR activities. Mather joined Ochre House from Swiss Re, where she was a global HR business partner.

Michelle Quest has been appointed UK head of people at KPMG. Quest, who joined KPMG in 1997, becoming a mergers and acquisitions tax partner in 2003, will lead the firm’s people strategy and policy development.


Wandsworth Borough Council has promoted Julie Chow to schools HR manager. Chow, previously a senior HR officer with the council, will be part of the schools HR team, providing HR advice and guidance to schools.
