The
Government has launched a website giving employment advice to the over 50s.
The
site aims to offer a practical guide about advice, support and services.
Launched
during Age Positive Week, which runs until 6 December, the site directs people
to advice on:
–
Help available through government and voluntary organisations
–
Getting the most out of working in later life
–
Information on pensions and planning for the future
Age
Positive Week is designed to raise awareness of age discrimination in the
workplace and to encourage individuals and employers to challenge stereotypes
based on age.
There
are around 19 million people aged 50 and over in the UK, making up two-fifths
of the adult population.
