Six
hundred jobs are under threat at electronics firm Panasonic’s Cardiff factory.
The
Japanese company – one of Wales’s longest-serving inward investors – said the
decision had been taken because of overseas competition.
One
thousand jobs were lost in a similar move two years ago, when the company
transferred production of its TVs and set-top boxes to the Czech Republic.

Nakamura, managing director of parent company Matsushita Electric, said:
"We will consult thoroughly with our employees and unions on this issue
and regret the concern that will be caused by this proposal."
