l Peter Bennett (pictured) has been appointed vice-president of HR at the luxury hotel group Le Meridien. He will be responsible for over-seeing all HR activity for the group’s 30,000 staff. He joins from Thomas Cook where he was HR director and a member of the UK Travel Board. Prior to this he was the head of personnel services at Boots Healthcare International. Most recently he has specialised in change initiatives.
l Greg Holder has started work as the new group HR director for NRG, a paper-based office solutions company and part of the Ricoh Group. Previously he worked for electronic supplier Premier Farnell and has held a variety of international HR and general management roles. Holder’s new role will involve change management. As HR director he will support 25 businesses in 18 countries with 7,500 employees, predominantly in Europe.
l The Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Sir Andrew Turnbull as the head of the Civil Service when Sir Richard Wilson retires in the autumn. Turnbull is currently the Permanent Secretary of HM Treasury. He joined the Treasury in 1970 as an assistant principal after working as an economist for the Government of Zambia. In 1994 he was appointed permanent secretary at the Department of Environment.mpact on efficiency and productivity.
