Workplace
discrimination of all kinds will soon be tackled by a single equality body,
under government plans to merge the existing agencies.
Plans
for a powerful Committee for Equality and Human Rights will be announced later
this week, according to BBC reports.
The
new body will replace the current agencies dealing with race, disability and
gender discrimination.

The
Commission for Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission and the
Disability Rights Commission will all be phased into the new organisation,
which is expected to be up and running by 2006.
