Pertemps Recruitment has been recognised by the Government for tackling age discrimination in the workplace, by becoming the latest Age Positive Employer Champion.
Age Positive, the Department for Work and Pensions campaign to tackle age discrimination at work, has awarded Employer Champion status to more than 100 organisations who are committed to tackling ageism in the workplace and have taken practical steps to change their employment practices ahead of legislation in 2006.
Gill Harvey, senior HR partner at Pertemps, said: “Becoming an Employer Champion has been a real acknowledgement of the work we have been doing to change our policies. Pertemps realises that being an Age Positive company can increase morale, improve recruitment and retention, widen our skills base and ultimately improve our bottom line. We would recommend other companies to implement positive age practices now.”

Employer Champions play a vital role in the Age Positive campaign. By promoting their own best practice and highlighting the practical business benefits of having a mixed-age workforce, they encourage other employers and individuals to tackle age discrimination in the workplace.
