Skillsmart Retail, the sector skills council for retail has appointed Anne Seaman as chief executive, filling a slot that has been vacant for some time.

Seaman moves up from her role as chief operating officer, having joined the company in September 2004. Previously, she was director of enterprise and innovation at Anglia Ruskin University from 1996.

Martin Beaumont, chairman of Skillsmart Retail, said:” We are delighted to confirm Anne’s appointment as chief executive. Skillsmart Retail has made significant progress over the past 12 months and we expect further improvement under Anne’s continued leadership.”
