The
Communication Workers Union (CWU) said its members at Royal Mail could strike
if they are not offered a better pay deal.
Allan
Leighton, chairman of the Royal Mail, offered a 14.5 per cent pay rise over 18
months, but the CWU claims the rise is worth only 4.5 per cent because most of
it is linked to productivity rises.
The
CWU said that it wants a better deal and may ballot on industrial action.
