Royal & Sun Alliance to cut 1,200 jobs

Royal
& Sun Alliance is cutting 1,200 jobs in the UK.

Almost
1,000 jobs are to be lost in the company’s life division at its sites in
Bristol, Liverpool and Horsham, and 230 sales jobs will also be cut.

The
announcement came as the insurer announced an 18 per cent fall in operating
profits, and raised its provision for claims resulting from 11 September by
£66m.
