Scott ElectroMech engineering firm in east Belfast cuts almost 80 jobs after going into administration

Nearly 80 jobs are to go at an engineering firm in east Belfast.

Scott ElectroMech Ltd, an electric motors manufacturer on Ravenhill Road, went into administration last Friday after efforts to sell the company as a going concern failed.

Ernst & Young was called in as administrator after the workforce was told last week the company would be closing.

Scott motors were used all over the world, including F1 wind tunnels, Malaysian rubber factories, Chinese sugar refineries, ski-lifts in Colorado and gold dredgers in Ghana.
