Good occupational health is enlightened self-interest for
employers, a conference, organised by the Health & Safety Executive in
Wales and the Welsh Collaboration for Health and the Environment, heard.
There is a shift from a "cold climate" of
scepticism towards "global warming" of recognition of the
contribution of OH, said Elizabeth Gingell, head of health and safety strategy
at the HSE.
"The strategy can only be achieved with the integration
of health and safety into management systems," Gingell said.
Other speakers backed the message. Edwina Hart, finance
director of the Wales Assembly, said the assembly is committed to better
occupational health.
