Socpo will officially elect its new president at the
Society’s annual conference later this month.
Keith Handley, programme change director for the City of
Bradford Metropolitan District Council, will have the key role of overseeing the
expansion of the society’s membership to all personnel officers.
“Over the past few years Socpo has established itself as an
important voice of the profession on the national stage. It is a great
responsibility and an exciting time to become president,” said Handley.
Other key issues on the agenda include equality and
work-life balance.
Keith, who will take over the presidency from Terry Gorman,
started his personnel career at Bradford Council in 1978 before becoming a
chief officer in 1986 and head of personnel function in 1989.
