The
Sector Skills Development Agency has launched a new campaign to encourage
employers to form the next phase of Sector Skills Councils.
The
government agency is hoping to raise awareness of SSCs among HR, training and
business leaders through the six-week advertising blitz.
The
activity forms part of a long-term plan to establish the umbrella ‘skills for
business brand’ as a facilitator for business in determining policy, leadership
and action in UK skills provision.
Christopher
Duff, chief executive of the SSDA, said: "The Government has promised over
£53m of funding over the next two years and a strong strategic voice to
influence government policy on skills, training and education. Now that SSDA is
open for business we want to see groups of employers coming together to form
these important new sector bodies."
