Financial
services company Legal & General has used an effective partnership
agreement with the MSF union to introduce major changes in the business with
minimum disruption.
David
Pullinger, head of training and development for Legal & General, said the
firm has been able to introduce flexible working arrangements smoothly because
of the partnership deal signed with the MSF in 1997. The same deal also helped
Legal & General move from Hove to Cardiff.

Digby
Jacks, financial services sector secretary for the MSF, commented, "There
is a deep mutual trust between the company and the union. The union wants Legal
& General’s business strategy to succeed and the company expects MSF to
make a contribution towards that end.
"The
winners are going to be first and foremost our customers, I’m sure our
shareholders will not be sorry either, but the real winners are the members of
staff that I represent."
