Staffordshire Police force has been named Britain’s most gay-friendly employer – beating many of the UK’s biggest companies. The gay campaigners Stonewall said a factor in the force’s success was its record of promoting lesbian and gay officers to a high level. Computing giant IBM came second in the list of the 100 most gay-friendly employers, while the Department for Work and Pensions and Manchester City Council tied for third.
