The TUC has warned students looking
for work this Christmas to beware of unscrupulous employers.
The National Union of Students (NUS)
claims that students looking for extra money over the festive period are a
prime target for exploitation.
In response the TUC has launched a
series of new leaflets advising students on employment issues including time
off, minimum wage, discrimination, health and safety and sackings.
John Monks, TUC general secretary
said, "Bad bosses see students as easy targets. They often don’t know
their rights and can lack the confidence to stick up for themselves.
"We hope to stop working
students from getting a raw deal and being taken for a ride in the run up to
Christmas," he added.
