This self-help book is written in very easy-to-understand language – in fact, some readers may find it too basic. However, it does contain all the elements needed to help the reader understand the interview process, how to exercise more control over the interview, planning and preparation techniques and presentation awareness.

While it offers numerous techniques to the reader to help overcome nerves and tension (such as facial and breathing exercises), I can’t help wondering whether potential candidates might be more concerned by the time they finish the book – frightened by the prospect of an interview that requires facial and breathing exercises beforehand.

However, this is an extremely helpful reference book with good information, advice and guidance, especially to inexperienced jobseekers. The resource information (such as internet sites, details of Jobcentre Plus, Connexions, and so on) provides a good source of further reading and exploration, and the section on answering interview questions is a good foundation upon which readers can base their planning and preparation.
