of London’s schools are expected to be closed today, due to strike action by
teachers.
Tens
of thousands of teachers are expected to walk out over pay in the one-day
strike, which is the biggest London-wide industrial action over teachers’ pay
for 30 years.

The
National Union of Teachers, which held a one-day strike in the capital seven
months ago, is demanding a 100 per cent increase in London weighting to take
the allowance to £6,000.
