The
two biggest teaching unions have voted to strike over London allowances.
The
National Union of Teachers and the NASUWT teaching union said they will stage a
one-day strike on 26 November.
The
third main classroom teaching union, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers,
is due to ballot on industrial action over the same issue.
The
three unions want the London allowance doubled, from just over £3,000 to £6,000
– the same rate paid to police officers.
