Sir Digby Jones is set to join business advisory firm Deloitte at the end of June, when he completes his six-and-a-half-year stint as director-general of the CBI. “I am delighted to join Deloitte,” said Jones, who will become chairman of the Deloitte Industries Group and a senior adviser to chief executive John Connolly.

Strikes halted as unions talk
Local government unions have suspended further strike action over pension reforms after the resumption of talks. Union leaders said they had agreed a framework for negotiation with the Local Government Association. At the heart of the discussions are plans to scrap the ‘rule of 85’, which currently allows staff to retire at 60 if their combined age and years of service add up to 85 or more.
