We are delighted to launch the call for entries to the Personnel Today Awards 2006.
For those of you who have entered, reached the shortlist, and won awards in the past, you’ll be well aware of the boost to morale that such a prestigious award can bring to your team, your department and your organisation.
But don’t just take our word for it. Four HR directors who have themselves been nominated for the HR Director of the Year Award (in 2003 and 2005) shared their insights at last week’s HR Directors Club breakfast debate in central London.
Winning accolades is not just about the headlines or the glitz on the awards night – although that is, of course, a special part of it. The HR directors said that it was first of all vital to get your own house in order before you start opening the doors to the outside world. But, once you do, winning external recognition for your achievements can help elevate HR’s status and profile within an organisation, and help to motivate the HR team.
There are 12 awards this year so you should be able to find exactly the right category to enter that allows you to showcase the talents of your HR team and prove that you really are adding value to the bottom line.

For 2006, we have also introduced a new award that will champion the everyday achievements of HR departments. The HR Impact award is for the most innovative approach to a problem the business faces. Basically, it’s about how HR stepped in and saved the day. There are hundreds of HR departments that help organisations tackle problems effectively every day, so it’s about time these efforts received suitable reward and recognition.
