Conductors
on Arriva Trains Northern are to take four days of strike action in the busy
run-up to Christmas over their annual pay claim.
The
RMT union claims the firm effectively halved its 4 per cent pay offer at Acas
last month when it said it would not backdate the claim to April.
Conductors
are now set to strike on 21-24 December and on New Year’s Eve.
"Our
members remain resolved and focused on the key objective – which is to win a
fair pay settlement," said RMT regional organiser Stan Herschel.
"Arriva
effectively halved their pay offer when we met them at Acas in October. That
was not the action of an employer serious about ending a dispute.
"It
would have cost them around £1m to settle this dispute, but they’ve now lost 10
times that amount," he said.
