The
Food and Drink Sector Skills Council (FDSSC) has launched a draft manifesto for
the future of training in the food and drink industry.
The
skills council has also named a chief executive, former chairman and chief
executive of food company RHM, Paul Wilkinson, and says it plans to
revolutionise the way recruitment, retention and training are viewed by the
UK’s £66bn food and drink manufacturing industry.
Labelling
its manifesto plans ‘Improve’, the council hopes to make the food and drink
industry a career of choice and to help those already emploued develop a clear
career path through planned and structured training and personal development.
Although
‘Improve’ will not provide training services, it will provide the framework for
a more strategic approach to the whole area of training and development.
