Commuters are set to suffer again if plans by London
Underground staff to strike on two days next week go ahead.
Talks are still underway between London Underground
management and the RMT union over plans to part privatise the tube but if
agreement cannot be reached services will be disrupted on Monday and Wednesday.
The RMT and Aslef are demanding there are no compulsory
redundancies and that there are no staff reductions under any circumstances
without trade union agreement.
They also calling for workers who were employed before
December 22, 2000 to be kept on their existing terms and conditions until
retirement and for equal influence with managers on a joint body which is to be
set up to oversee safety and maintenance.
