The
UK has the highest proportion of wealth-creating companies in Europe, a new
report from the DTI claims.
Just
under 30 per cent of business listed as the top 600 in Europe were from the UK
– more than any other country on the continent.
The
DTI’s Value Added Scoreboard also showed that 56 of the top 100 UK companies
successfully increased wealth compared to 48 of the top 100 European firms.
The
scoreboard measures wealth as a company’s sales minus the cost of materials,
components and services.
