British
workers are now officially more productive than their Japanese counterparts,
according to new figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
UK
workers delivered almost 10 per cent more GDP (gross domestic product) per head
than Japanese workers – who were once a byword for efficiency.

However,
the UK still lags behind France and Germany.Â
The ‘experimental’ figures from the ONS show that France is 31.7 per
cent ahead and Germany 16.4 per cent ahead of the UK.
