Unemployment falls to all-time low

The
number of people unemployed in the UK has fallen to the lowest rate since
records began.

In
the three months to February this year it fell by 33,000 to reach 1.43 million
– the lowest level since 1984.

Figures
from the Office for National Statistics also show another fall in the claimant
count. The number of people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance now numbers 882,200
– the lowest level since September 1975.

Total
hours worked per week increased by 6.5 million hours to 905.4 million hours,
reflecting both the rise in employment and an increase in average hours worked
by men.
