The
GMB and Transport & General Workers’ Union (T&G) have joined forces to
press for better pay for the UK’s funeral workers.
GMB
and T&G members in Co-operative Funeralcare, one of the country’s largest
funeral companies, are to be balloted on industrial action following the
rejection of a 3.5 per cent pay offer made by the company.
GMB
national secretary Phil Davies said: "The offer does not reflect the value
of funeral employees either to the company or British society. They are the
final caring profession, and that should be recognised in their pay.

"These
are dedicated people who are scraping by on low pay. The GMB wants to see a
fair pay deal for members," he said.
