Union
chiefs are withholding £40m worth of donations to the Labour Party because of
the Government’s reaction to the firefighters’ dispute.
Reports
suggest that unions are refusing to make the donation because of the
Government’s failure to compromise in the dispute.
Ministers
have demanded the Fire Brigades’ Union (FBU) comply in full with
recommendations in the Bain report.

Independent newspaper claims the row is hampering the progress of a new
donation plan, which will replace annual contributions with funding for the
lifetime of a parliament.
