The UK is the number-one destination in Western Europe for expatriates,
attracting about 48 per cent of the market, mainly from the US and France. In
these times of increasing globalisation, this is only going to increase and in
turn add to the HR professional’s administrative duties, not least because
relocation is an area often fraught with red tape.
This website aims to alleviate the burden by offering a one-stop shop for
sorting out and tracking the key requirements for an ex-pat employee, such as
visas and work permits, tax, banking, health insurance and mobile telephony.
Most of those who work behind the scenes of the site have been ex-pats so they
know the difficulties of arriving in a country and not being able to get a credit
card or mobile phone without a bank account. Propeller sorts all of this via a
network of specialist organisations including KPMG, Citibank, legal company
Mischon de Reya (experts in applying for UK visas) and medical insurer Western
Provident.
