Workers more loyal to career than employer

Almost
50 per cent of people are more loyal to their own career than to their current
employer, with 40 per cent expecting to leave their current job in the next 12
months.

A
poll of 1,000 employees found that one in three were looking for another job as
early as their first day with a new employer.

The
findings show that one in four think their employer shows no interest in
finding out about their career, with half believing their company is no more
loyal than they are.

The research, by career consultant Penna Saunders and Sidney,
also shows that around half would be more loyal to the company if there was
better training, appreciation of their efforts and more chances for promotion.
